From the archive, 2022. This is an English summary of the original Slovak interview published by Nový Čas. Its figures, prices and plans describe the brewery at that time.
Samuel Majerčák and Libor Šlosár came to Prague separately from eastern Slovakia. The interview traces how they met in 2015 and went on to establish Potmehúd in 2018, building on Samuel’s experiments with homebrewing.
Rather than buying a brewery of their own, they developed recipes and brewed with partner breweries. Samuel also completed a brewing course in Prague. It is the approach often called a flying or nomadic brewery: the recipes and the beer belong to the brand, while production takes place at a partner’s premises.
A mutual friend suggested the name Potmehúd. In Slovak, the word evokes a mischievous character, which suited them rather well. In the interview, Samuel talks about winning over sceptical beer drinkers by letting the beer speak for itself.
The article also records the scale of production and the range available in 2022. Those details belong to the history of the brewery; for today’s range, browse the current shop. You can also read our story or explore past and present brews.
